Diagnostics
We are dedicated to providing the best possible care for your beloved pets. To accomplish this, we continually invest in cutting-edge technology and facilities that allow us to deliver accurate, timely diagnosis and treatments.
The IDEXX In-House Laboratory is a revolutionary addition to our clinic, allowing us to perform a wide range of diagnostic tests rapidly and accurately. Whether your pet requires blood work, urinalysis, or other diagnostic assessments, we can generate results in a matter of minutes rather than days. This quick turnaround time ensures that we can promptly diagnose your pet’s condition and initiate treatment as soon as possible.
Our IDEXX In-House Laboratory is equipped with a suite of advanced instruments that cover various aspects of pet health. We can perform complete blood counts (CBC), blood chemistry profiles, coagulation tests, electrolyte analysis, full urinalysis including microscopy of sediment, and much more. This comprehensive approach to diagnostics ensures that no aspect of your pet’s health is left unexamined.
In emergencies, time is of the essence. Having the IDEXX In-House Laboratory on-site means that we can quickly assess your pet’s condition, whether they’ve ingested a toxic substance, have a severe injury, or are experiencing a sudden illness. By eliminating the need to send samples to external laboratories, we can make critical decisions and take action faster than ever before.
Our ability to generate accurate diagnostic results in-house allows us to customise treatment plans for your pet. This ensures that your pet receives the specific care they need, avoiding unnecessary treatments or delays in providing appropriate care.
For more complicated cases we are able to make use of the Idexx and Gribbles veterinary pathologists and send samples and/or cases to them for quick assessment. At the Vets also works with Idexx doing preventative care panels at a reduced rate for healthy pets needing a check up. Ask your vet if this is right for your pet.
Our Vetscan IMAGYST has been in use in our clinic since late 2022.
Using a compact scanner along with AI technology and a network of remote expert clinical pathologists, VETSCAN IMAGYST delivers efficient AI fecal analysis, AI blood smear, and digital cytology image transfer results, so you can make important treatment decisions sooner
The Imagyst provides first-of-its-kind technology, offering
- AI blood smear analysis, giving expert-level results to supplement a complete blood count (CBC) in minutes
- Digital cytology image transfer to Zoetis’ national and international pathologists, who report results back to us (with a benchmark turnaround time of within 2 hours). The service is available 24 hours due to the use of international pathologists.
This removes the time delay involved in shipping samples to laboratories and speeds up analysis of needle aspirate samples taken from suspect tumors, and fluids. Samples are taken in our clinic, slide preparations made and stained, and the Imagyst scans and uploads high-magnification, high-resolution images for reading.
Digital cytology image transfer can be utilized to examine the same tissues and fluids as traditional cytology.
The tissues that can be examined include:
- Lymph nodes
- Visceral organs (eg, liver, kidney, pancreas, intestines, spleen)
- Musculoskeletal (eg, muscle, bone, joints)
- Skin
- Masses
- Reproductive (eg, ovaries, uterus, mammary, prostate, testes)
- Brain
- Eyes/adnexa
The fluids that can be examined include:
- Urine
- Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF)
- Aqueous/vitreous humor
- Effusions
- Blood
- Transtracheal wash (TTW)/Bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL)
