Owner / Veterinarian

Heather graduated from Massey in 1990, and after working for her first 2 years in mixed practice in Taranaki, headed for England. Her first job there was in rural practice in Cornwall, then on to London to manage a busy small animal practice, where she stayed for 5 years, until moving to Christchurch in 1999.

Heather has worked ‘At the Vets’ since January 2001. Heather owns the practice, and is proud to have designed the purpose-built hospital. She enjoys the challenge of managing a growing team and building the practice to provide the highest possible standard of service and patient care.

She is a member of the New Zealand Veterinary Association, the New Zealand Companion Animal Society and the Veterinary Information Network. She was a finalist in the 2018 Primary Industries Good Employer awards. Supporting staff professional development and welfare has always been a priority.

Heather is experienced in all companion animal medicine, surgery and dentistry. She enjoys all types of surgery from soft tissue through to orthopaedics, and enjoys challenging medical cases.

At home, she has two Jack Russells and two cats with partner Hayden, and when not at the clinic they are likely to be at the park or beach with their dogs, or out camping or boating.

At the Vets is a member of the Christchurch After Hours Veterinary Clinic.
You are welcome to use the After Hours clinic if there is an emergency with your pet at any time that At the Vets is closed. After Hours will forward us your pet’s treatment history so we can continue their care.
